At the historic Stud bar, each month, hundreds of furries and allies gather for Frolic’s dancing, drinks and to strut custom costumes ranging from foxes, lions, and even a prehistoric bird that flapped his wings outside the bar.
While this column is a leather column, at least historically, the truth is that the term leather encompasses a wide array of kinky sexualities and identities. Among them is rubber. Wearing rubber. Playing in rubber. And, this weekend, showing off new designs in rubber.
If candy hearts, chocolates and bouquets of flowers aren’t your style, consider some unusual February events focusing on romance for singles, couples and, well, whatever combination shoots that arrow through your heart.
The marriage of booze and books goes back to the 1950s at Beat-era readings at North Beach bars like The Black Cat, The Cellar, and Vesuvio. That tradition is alive and well today with Litquake, Writers With Drinks, and other events.

Gift cards from Good Vibrations and five pairs of tickets to the Scissor Sisters concert (Sept 12 at Oakland’s Fox Theatre) were randomly handed in a fun raffle.
